About
The hands behind the work.
Morris Basir Designs is led by Mo — a craftsman whose path into bespoke joinery was shaped by years of hands-on experience across construction and world-class event production. Today, that same eye for detail, precision and finish goes into every piece we create.
Meet Mo
A craftsman, first and foremost.
My journey into the trade didn’t start at a workbench. It started in 2009, fitting windows and learning the importance of getting the details right.
From there, my career took me to the Middle East, where I spent five years working on large-scale events and productions — from Formula 1 to National Day exhibitions. I managed teams of riggers, lighting technicians, carpenters and production crews, delivering complex builds where precision, organisation and tight deadlines were part of the job.
When I returned to the UK, I found myself drawn back to working with my hands. During Covid, I had the opportunity to focus properly on carpentry and joinery, developing my skills and eventually turning that passion into Morris Basir Designs.
Today, I bring both sides of that experience to every project — the precision and problem-solving of large-scale production, combined with the care and attention to detail of bespoke craftsmanship.
The journey
The route to the workshop.
Sixteen years of sites, teams and deadlines sit behind every piece that leaves the bench.

Where it started
Not on a bench, but on site as a window fitter - learning how buildings actually go together.
-
Five years abroad
The Middle East
Managing large-scale event sites and productions, from Formula 1 to the National Day exhibitions.

Back in the UK
Carpentry, then joinery
Covid gave me the time and space to properly fall in love with carpentry - and joinery followed soon after.

MBD
Wardrobes, staircases, kitchens, doors and full renovations, built with the precision I learned managing world-class events.
In my own words
The parts of the job I love most.
The consultation
One of my favourite parts of the job is sitting down with customers, understanding their space, and working through ideas and solutions together. I love that collaboration just as much as the making itself. Every bespoke piece is a new problem to solve, and no two are ever quite the same - that's exactly how I like it.
The timber
I also love working with a vast range of wood materials. Each species brings its own character, grain and challenges, and I enjoy bringing different types of timber into my joinery to create something with real depth and individuality.
How it works
From first idea to final fitting.
01
Consultation
We talk through your ideas, take a proper look at the space, and offer honest advice on what will work best.
02
Design & Quote
You receive a clear design direction and a transparent quote - no jargon, no surprises later.
03
In the Workshop
Your piece is made by hand from carefully selected timber, with the joints and finish done properly.
04
Fitted on Site
We install with care, tidy up after ourselves, and don't leave until you're genuinely happy.
If you're after craftsmanship, ideas, and someone who genuinely cares about getting it right - that's what you'll get here.
